Ephesians 6:15 Sock Ministry

MINISTRY UPDATE - August 18, 2015
SOCK MINISTRY NO LONGER TAKING DONATIONS.

It is with great disappointment that I will be suspending the Ephesians 6:15 Sock Ministry until further notice.

I was notified today by MarineParents that the Care Package Project, our sponsor, stopped accepting donations in July 2015 due to lack of need.  {The staff at Marine Parents normally receives addresses of deployed Marines which in turn would receive the Care Packages.  With the recent draw down and more special operation deployments, MarineParents has not received enough addresses to sustain the Care Package Project.

The Care Package Project will be having one more unofficial packing day to clear out their inventory. Please be assured that the funds you donated through my blog will be used toward the final care package shipment by Marine Parents.

In the meantime, I will be looking into other sponsors for the Ephesians 6:15 Sock Ministry in the hopes of opening up the ministry to donations again.

Thank you again for your past generosity.

Blessings,
Karen

EPHESIANS 6:15 SOCK MINISTRY

Equipping Marines Souls

"Having shod your feet with the readiness of the Gospel of peace."

Ministry Statement

Our ministry conducts fundraisers toward the purchase of Covert Threads socks and Gospel of John tracts for our United States Marines.  We are sponsored by MarineParents.com, a non-profit organization providing education and support to Marine families as well as support to our U.S. Marines.  All goods purchased through our fundraiser will be forwarded to MarineParents.com, along with a letter of encouragement and testimony for each Marine.  Their staff of volunteers will ship out the packages to those Marines and units that have been identified to their organization as having a need.

Mission Statement

It is our desire to be the "beautiful feet that bring glad tidings of good things." to our U.S. Marines by sharing the love of Christ Jesus in the following ways:

  • To provide each Marine with a loving gift of Covert Threads Socks
  • To send along a letter of encouragement testifying of God's great love and the free gift of salvation
  • To give them each a Gospel tract of the Book of John
  • To pray for the Marines receiving these gifts
Ministry Introduction Letter

My husband Michael and I would like to introduce ourselves and our ministry to you. We attend Christ Community Church.   My husband earned his M. Div. at Bethel Seminary of the East and is currently in the ministry of pulpit supply.  I have served in the roles of mentor coordinator for Mother’s of Preschoolers and as facilitator for ladies Bible study.

In 2009, we praised God for His watch care over our son-in-law, a United States Marine, who returned safe from a seven month deployment to Afghanistan where he helped to further secure the Kajaki Dam. He faced death on a daily basis as most of them do…

It was through our son-in-law’s experiences and those of his unit that the Lord laid upon my heart such a field ripe for harvest as those young men and women who are serving in very dangerous areas of combat, facing their own mortality every day…without Jesus… Through such intense experiences, many of them might begin to ask questions such as: Is there a God? Will He help me? What happens if I die? Where will I go? Am I involved in too many bad behaviors for Him to even listen to me or care about me? I don’t know how to change? What if I don’t want to change? … I felt the Lord leading me to provide the hope and answers to those questions.

As a means of reaching out to these Marines, I became aware through my son-in-law’s deployment of an American company, Covert Threads, whose business is specialty socks for the military. They have socks for a wide range of climates and terrains. Our son-in-law said they were the absolute best socks. They relieved and protected his feet from the many maladies that can strike our U.S. troops such as blistering, chafing and severe fungal infections. Many other testimonies are cited of the superior benefits of these socks by others in the military. My husband and I felt this would be a wonderful way to share the love of Christ by providing socks to our Marines as a tangible reminder of the God of all Comfort. Our ministry is the “Ephesians 6:15 Sock Ministry”.

Please read our ministry and mission statement (see above) as well as our gospel message letter to the Marine (see below). Also, we ask that you would visit Covert Threads for more information about the combat socks and The Care Package Project for more information about our sponsor. Once you have reviewed these items, we are humbly asking that you consider making a donation to the Ephesians 6:15 Sock Ministry which proceeds will go toward purchasing socks as well as gospel of John tracts.

If you would like to make a donation, please see the secure donate button at the bottom of this page.

Blessings,

Michael and Karen Del Tatto

Personal Letter of Encouragement to Marine
Dear Marine,
Thank you for your willingness to serve to protect us all as well as helping people in countries of conflict to have the freedoms that we enjoy.  It is with deepest  gratitude and appreciation that we send you these socks.  As you wear them, it is our hope they will bring you great physical comfort and the comfort of knowing that prayers are being lovingly offered for you by those who gave them.
Your selfless sacrifice is a reminder of the One who gave the greatest sacrifice, Jesus Christ, who showed His great love for us all by His willingness to die on the cross to take on the punishment for our sins so that we might have eternal life.  What a peace that can be ours.  Jesus tells us in His Word “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest … Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart…”  You might be thinking, but I’ve done too many bad things; how could I possibly change?  How can God love me?  God loves you so much that through Jesus He has given you a way to change because He will help you.  Just call out to Jesus desiring a relationship with Him, realizing that you cannot work your way into heaven, but that Jesus accomplished that for you.  My friend, just simply confess your sins to Jesus and ask Him to help you to turn from them and acknowledge to Him that you know He died in your place on the cross to take your punishment and that He rose from the dead so that He can raise you from the dead one day to be with Him in Heaven forever.  Once you do this, you will have the promise of eternal life with Jesus.  You no longer have to fear death or hell and are sealed with Jesus’ promise that HE will never leave you or forsake you.
Enclosed is a tract of the Gospel of John.  In the pages of that book, you will meet your Savior and the more you read, the closer you will feel to Him.  Let His words sink deep into your heart, and I promise you, the joy and peace you receive will change your life.  You WILL become a new man in Christ Jesus.
If you have any questions about anything you have read in this letter or what you have read in the Gospel of John tract, seek out your Chaplain and talk with him.  He is there for you as a servant of Jesus to help you, guide you and minister to you.
In God’s Word, in the book of Ephesians, it tells of a Roman soldier and the importance of the armor he wears.  It is a metaphor for the life of a Christian.  Apparently, as a way to bring a soldier down, the enemy would put sharp objects in the road hoping to pierce their feet thereby immobilizing them because as you well know, the feet are the part of our body, when hurt, that can keep us down.  The Bible refers to this most important piece of armor stating we are to “shod our feet with the gospel of peace” illustrating that without daily reading God’s Word and prayer, we will be open to the sin that “so easily entangles us”.  But we can rejoice in hope, because God’s Word gives us wisdom to protect us from each day’s battles
Dear Marine, with each comfortable step in your new socks remember that the God of all comfort will comfort you in all things.  He loves you so much!
With love in Christ,
Mike and Karen Del Tatto & Your brothers and sisters in the Lord
