Mary Did You Know, but Do You Know?

Thursday, December 6, 2018

Hello everyone,

Well I guess I should be happy that this is the first time I've had something like this happen to me in the almost five years I've been blogging, but this original post got wiped out somehow.

It was the first in a series on my favorite contemporary Christmas songs where I featured the beautiful song, Mary Did You Know.

The Lord led me in writing the previous post, but unfortunately, I don't have time now to try to duplicate it.

However, I would like to leave you with the lyrics of this poignant song to ponder, and I will share, once again, Kathy Mattea's version of this song which is my absolute favorite.

Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy would one day walk on water?
Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy would save our sons and daughters?
Did you know
that your Baby Boy has come to make you new?
This Child that you delivered will soon deliver you.

Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy will calm the storm with His hand?
Did you know
that your Baby Boy has walked where angels trod?
When you kiss your little Baby you kissed the face of God?

Mary did you know.

The blind will see.
The deaf will hear.
The dead will live again.
The lame will leap.
The dumb will speak
The praises of The Lamb.

Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy would one day rule the nations?
Did you know
that your Baby Boy is heaven's perfect Lamb?
The sleeping Child you're holding is the great "I am"
Mark Lowry

May we all truly grasp all that Jesus has done, is doing and will do for us during this Advent season.

  1. That is one of my favourite Christmas songs, and it is fascinating to wonder about how much Mary really understood about what was happening. I shared the song in my post today too!

  6. You know, I think that none of us really realize or 'know' all the Jesus can mean to us--it's a lifetime process of discovery and revelation.
