How to worship God as the Psalmists did

The Very First Worship Center

Many things are best stated by God's Word.  I believe Psalm 8 gives us the perfect description of the very first worship center.
Psalm 8
O Lord, our Lord,
    how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory above the heavens.
2     Out of the mouth of babies and infants,
you have established strength because of your foes,
    to still the enemy and the avenger.

3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,
    the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
4 what is man that you are mindful of him,
    and the son of man that you care for him?

5 Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings[b]
    and crowned him with glory and honor.
6 You have given him dominion over the works of your hands;
    you have put all things under his feet,
7 all sheep and oxen,
    and also the beasts of the field,
8 the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea,
    whatever passes along the paths of the seas.

9 O Lord, our Lord,
    how majestic is your name in all the earth!

How to worship God as the Psalmist did.

How Should We Respond in Worship?

Sadly, we all can be guilty of attending Sunday morning services with the attitude of wanting what WE WANT out of the service.  Rather than focusing on the One who is worthy of ALL of our attention and praise.

This song by Michael W. Smith is a beautiful example of how the very first worshippers at the very first worship service conducted themselves.

 O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth.
O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth.
O Lord, we praise your name.
O Lord, we magnify your name:
Prince of Peace, mighty God;
O Lord God Almighty.

O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth.
O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth.
O Lord, we praise your name.
O Lord, we magnify your name:
Prince of Peace, mighty God;
O Lord God Almighty.

How Majestic is Your Name
Michael W. Smith

During this week's worship service, think about the very first worship center and praise God as the Psalmist did. 😊

  1. Didn't Sandi Patti sing a song written from this verse? I can hear a melody in my head just a singing these words! LOL! I love these verses, and as time goes by and God continues to answer prayer in so many ways, He becomes even more majestic in my sight. I love Him more than ever and thank Him for such a precious friend as you. Much love to you today!

      Beautifully stated sweet friend.

      And I am so blessed to have you in my life! When we obey God's call upon our lives, He blesses us above and beyond what we hoped or expected. When I decided to blog, I had NOO idea how much the Lord would bless me and I would have to say, you are my biggest blessing.
