Bloom Where You Are Planted

What Does It Mean To Bloom Where You Are Planted?

I'm sure you've all heard this often quoted saying, bloom where you are planted, which Google describes as follows:  meaning a person should take advantage of the opportunities they have in their life and be grateful for the present situation.

This could certainly be said of Christians.  God's Word tells us...

to make the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Ephesians 5:16

And to

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thessalonians 5:18

The following Psalm gives additional insight into what it means to a Believer to bloom where you are planted.

Psalm 80:8-11

You transplanted a vine from Egypt;
you drove out the nations and planted it.
You cleared the ground for it,
and it took root and filled the land.
The mountains were covered with its shade,
the mighty cedars with its branches.
Its branches reached as far as the Sea
its shoots as far as the River.

How a Christian can bloom where they are planted.

To bloom where you are planted for the Lord means that the time and space He has placed you in will be impacted greatly for the Kingdom of God because He already planned the works for you to do in  that time and space before the worlds began.

How Can We Bloom if We Have Been Uprooted?

Sometimes, in life, the Lord uproots His children and plants them in a new place.

And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth,
having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place,
Acts 17:26

And this isn't just limited to our homes and neighborhoods, but we can be uprooted from one job and placed in a new job OR sometimes we are uprooted from our church home and moved to another.

A move whether it be our home, our job or our church home does not always occur under our control or choice, but we can rest assured that it is ALWAYS in God's control and according to His perfect will.

I'm preaching to myself here as I have found my life upended due to a situation that was out of my control, in a job I've held for the past seven years, a job I loved, with co-workers that are like family, but due to circumstances that have effected me and my co-workers, it is no longer a healthy work situation, and I have had to make the difficult decision to resign.

I have been resentful about this, but the Lord has a way of ministering to me and convicting me as I blog, and tonight was no different as the Lord reminded me that it is ultimately Him that has uprooted me from this job so that He can plant me in new soil where I can bloom, once again, for His Kingdom.

How a Christian can bloom where they are planted.

How a Christian can bloom where they are planted.

God Has Called You To Bloom Where You Are Planted

We only get one life, a life that may have us move from town to town, church to church or job to job, but one thing remains constant, we are ambassadors for Christ and we must emulate Him and His attributes wherever the Lord plants us.

Let us bloom with flowers that will quickly turn into the fruit of the Spirit which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

How a Christian can bloom where they are planted.

How a Christian can bloom where they are planted.

We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord
We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the Lord
And we pray that all unity may one day be restored
And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love
They will know we are Christians by our love

We will work with each other, we will work side by side
We will work with each other, we will work side by side
And we'll guard each one's dignity and save each one's pride
And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love
They will know we are Christians by our love

By our love, by our love

And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love
They will know we are Christians by our love

We will walk with each other, we will walk hand in hand
We will walk with each other, we will walk hand in hand
And together we'll spread the news that God is in our land
And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love
They will know we are Christians by our love

By our love, by our love

And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love
They will know we are Christians by our love

They'll Know We Are Christians By Our Love

  1. Oh, how I needed to read this right now! Thank you ever so much, dear friend, for your constant obedience to the Holy Spirit to share what He lays upon your heart. You minister to my heart time after time. I am so sorry you had to leave a job you loved and where you were comfortable. You are so right. God closes those doors in our lives, and sometimes we don't see the reason until far later on, but we have to believe that He is working all things together for our good. I am so thankful He removed you from an environment that had become so toxic, and now I know He has physical healing and a new, fresh season in store for you. Praying for you and sending much love your way.
