Praise His name, throughout the world, as far as the East is from the West and everywhere in between, Praise His Holy name!

Matthew Henry's commentary shares the following about Psalm 113:3

An exhortation to praise God. - God has praise from his own people. They have most reason to praise him; for those who attend him as his servants, know him best, and receive most of his favours, and it is easy, pleasant work to speak well of their Master...

God is exalted above all blessing and praise. We must therefore say, with holy admiration, Who is like unto the Lord our God? How condescending in him to behold the things in the earth! And what amazing condescension was it for the Son of God to come from heaven to earth, and take our nature upon him, that he might seek and save those that were lost! How vast his love in taking upon him the nature of man, to ransom guilty souls! God sometimes makes glorious his own wisdom and power, when, having some great work to do, he employs those least likely, and least thought of for it by themselves or others...

And this is God's constant method in his kingdom of grace. He takes men, by nature beggars, and even traitors, to be his favourites, his children, kings and priests unto him; and numbers them with the princes of his chosen people. He gives us all our comforts, which are generally the more welcome when long delayed, and no longer expected...

I was especially struck by those items that I bolded in the above text.

  • for those who attend him as his servants, know him best, and receive most of his favours, and it is easy, pleasant work to speak well of their Master...
What privileges we have as children of God!  The favour of the Holy Spirit revealing His Word to us, teaching us, bringing Scripture to our remembrance when we need it most; our ever present help, our wisdom, our strength, our comfort, our peace, and on and on are the attributes of God that he bestows upon us.   It is impossible not to "speak well of our Master" singing His praises.

  • God sometimes makes glorious his own wisdom and power, when, having some great work to do, he employs those least likely, and least thought of for it by themselves or others...
The Lord calls us to do great things for Him that can only be accomplished through His strength.  It is in that strength that we give all Glory and praise to our Heavenly Father.

  • He gives us all our comforts, which are generally the more welcome when long delayed, and no longer expected...

Our comforts come after trials, which trials are set aside for the children by the loving hand of the Father, and then after we have suffered a little while the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. 1 Peter 5:10.

I have always found that my joy is exceedingly great when I have received an 11th hour answer to prayer, when I thought the matter I had prayed for not to be in the will of God, and then He blesses me with mercy upon mercy, grace upon grace, which I cannot contain without shouting praises to everyone who will listen about my great God and King!

The true meaning of Psalm 113:3 is that ALL PEOPLES who fill the space of the world, as far as the East is from the West, are to praise God.

Even so, we  have glorious sunrises and sunsets, a tapestry of colors in the sky, a glimpse into the Kingdom of Heaven, to bring our hearts heavenward in Praise of our God, our Heavenly Father, our Saviour, and our Friend.

Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Praise the LORD!

  1. I love this verse. I live on tiny island (connected to the mainland by a causeway) and am so blessed to be able to see the sun rise and set over the two beaches that I live next to. I say this verse every morning and every evening.

    1. That must be so amazing! I have not seen as many sunrises as I would like, but I have certainly seen my share of beautiful sunsets, especially living near the water.

That is wonderful! What a beautiful way to start and end the day. Thank you for sharing! :-)
