Tuesday Thoughts - November 10, 2015

Welcome back to to Tuesday Thoughts!  So glad you are here!  :-)

This week's weather was absolutely beautiful!!   We have enjoyed unseasonably warm temps in the low 70s!  I absolutely love the way the trees look in my back yard, bare limbs holding on to a few patches of yellow leaves, the rest having already fallen, blanketing my backyard in yellow, creating a bright glow of cheerfulness even when its cloudy.  It reminds me of orange lensed sunglasses which I refer to as "happy glasses" because everything looks cheerful when you view the world through them.  :-)

Now that my granddaughter is crawling, you never know where you might find her!  And yes, that is a sock in her mouth. lol!

This little seven  month old is already pulling herself up into a standing position on anything that will support her.   My daily step counts should be increasing!  ;-)

What have I lingered over this week?
  • The sun's golden rays, no longer heeded by a canopy of leaves, shining freely through bare limbs into my kitchen, cheerfully brightening the space with light and warmth...
  • Listening to a chorus of birds singing from inside a row of aborvite bushes outside my bedroom window, the birds already settling into their winter fortress...
  • Looking out my window at work, taking a double take watching a man next to where my car was parked walking his dog, a man that looked exactly like my dad, same white hair and white beard, same style of clothing and same manner in which he walked, wishing my dad didn't live four hours away...
  • The return of the winter birds, blue jays and female cardinals, appreciating their beautiful colors standing out amidst the yellow cast of our backyard...
  • The beauty of the only crimson colored tree in our neighborhood...

  • The stillness of a foggy morning, the yellow leaves creating an ethereal glow...
  • The first dinner and shopping trip in over a year, just me and my Angel, enjoying my daughter, my best friend, laughing together, spending quality time together, moments I cherish...
  • A flock of turkeys in my backyard, amazed at their size up close, laughing at there "gobble gobble" sounds, standing in awe as one flew off, loving the nostalgia of turkeys in November...

What have I pondered this week?

Whenever I look at my granddaughter through the monitor when she is sleeping or when I'm holding her, I think to myself or say to her, "you are so precious".  There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think it or say it multiple times throughout the day.  One time in particular, holding her close, whispering in her ear how precious she is, I thought about my Heavenly Father, who holds me close and tells me how precious I am to Him...  Yet too often, I forget this...

Holding my precious granddaughter close, loving her until it feels my heart could burst,  how much more does my Heavenly Father, who died for me, hold me close and see me as precious...

He tends His flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in His arms and
carries them close to His heart...
Isaiah 40:11

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
Isaiah 41:10

My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me.
Psalm 63:8

He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge...
Psalm 91:4

For You have been my help, And in the shadow of Your wings I sing for joy.
Psalm 63:7

Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you,
I give men in return for you, peoples in exchange for your life.
Isaiah 43:4

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.
Psalm 116:15

  2. makes me feel right there. Isn't it amazing how the beauty of a brilliant red maple takes our breath away? It makes you realized that God indeed created all things for our enjoyment. Oh my, how He loves us!

  3. Oh, my, bless your dear heart, reflux is so awful. I, too, am searching for relief, without medication. One thing I have found that REALLY does work is apple cider vinegar. I know it sounds crazy, because of the acid, but reflux is actually caused by not enough acid or something along this line, so adding the acidic element of the apple cider vinegar sort of cuts through it. It isn't easy to stomach, but it does work. I trust God will lead us both into a solution on this, as it is something I struggle with, too. And may He answer your other prayers, also. Loved the picture of your precious grand-daughter!!!

    1. Cheryl, Yes it came on rather insidiously. It started with a perpetual scratchy throat believe it or not. I rarely have actual "rising up reflux", but I indeed have the symptoms of it with a tightening sensation in my throat in addition to the scratchy throat. I can also get an awful lot of phlegm. :-/ I was doing some research and like you found out that it isn't having too much acid, but not enough. I definitely don't want to go on conventional meds because I've heard too many things that say you end up being a slave to that drug. I have heard about the apple cider vinegar and definitely want to try it, but I have issues with vinegar even from salads irritating my throat. I appreciate you so much sharing your insights and I may just have to try the apple cider vinegar. Thank you for agreeing with me in prayer. It means so much!

      She is indeed precious! :-)
