Thanksgiving Thursday - October 1, 2015

Welcome to another weekly installment of Thanksgiving Thursday.  :-)

Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous;
it is fitting for the upright to praise him.
Psalm 33:1

Counting my blessings one by one:
  • The Lord blocking several attempts to look at and/or purchase cars, leading us to the PERFECT car, at the PERFECT price with the PERFECT amount of miles and even though it is 8 years old  it runs like a dream!  {Our car salesman said in his 20 years of selling cars he had never saw a car so cheap and in such excellent condition.)
  • Laughing with my husband and daughter because our new car looks like a cross between a funeral home car, a Bentley, a Mercedes or a squished limo.  What do you think?  :-)

We've decided it's the perfect Pastor's car.  ;-)
  • An annual physical that is finally over ;-)
  •  A new conservative doctor that treats the whole person, not just the symptoms - exactly the type of practice I was looking for.
  • Having high blood pressure at my doctor's appointment.
{I should probably explain.  lol.   As I have shared in past posts, I have white coat syndrome causing my blood pressure to spike when I am extremely nervous, which for me is going to the doctor.  Many of you lifted me up in prayer for my doctor's appointment and even though my blood pressure was elevated, He did indeed answer your prayers because this new doctor actually addressed my white coat syndrome.   Not in the usual way for a 55 year old, which is usually to begin blood pressure medication.  Instead, she is sending me for a stress echocardiogram to make sure my heart is not showing any signs of hypertension.  The doctor said if my heart looks good, she won't worry if my blood pressure is high at a doctor's appointment knowing it is indeed just white coat syndrome.  I can't tell you how happy I am to have a doctor whose first instinct is not to automatically medicate, but to look into whether there is a real problem or not.  I have a feeling once I get a good result on my stress echo and knowing that the doctor isn't going to be focused on my white coat syndrome, my blood pressure will probably normalize for doctor's visits.}  Again, thank you all so much for praying!  This was an incredible answer to prayer!
  • A blogging schedule that the Lord has helped me to work out
  • Enjoying a walk with my husband, daughter and granddaughter at another beautiful park in our town.
  • My granddaughter's giggles
  • Balmy September days
  • An afternoon shopping with my daughter and granddaughter to pick out new clothes for little Lexi who is growing so fast!
  • My weekly Sunday before church call with my parents, always enjoying a good laugh.  :-)
  • The Lord's inspiration in every aspect of blogging
  • This most blessed season of having my daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter living with us
  • A part-time job that I enjoy
  • A beautiful, cheerful office space that overlooks the Town Common where I can hear the church bells playing hymns at noon while I'm at my job.
Praising God for His many blessings this past week.

I’ll count my blessings—
Count them o’er and o’er—
I’ll tell my Father’s goodness—
I will love Him more,
I’ll count my blessings, bountiful and free—
Yet I can never count them all—
So good is God to me!

A joy that is shared is a joy made double.

  1. So thankful your dreaded doctor visit is behind you now, and also to know God led you straight to the right doctor and car, too!!! It is a beautiful car that appears to have been very well-cared for...God was preserving it just for you and your husband! We all have so much to be thankful for, even in the midst of the fiery trails we must walk through...there is always, always much to praise Him for! Thank you for reminding us!

    1. Cheryl, Thank you Cheryl! Your right, I didn't think of it from that perspective, "God was preserving it just for you and your husband!"

      Your welcome Cheryl.

I praise God for my friendship with you. :-)

  2. Your spirit resonates through every aspect of your website, Karen! May the Lord continue to fill your heart with thanksgiving and give you rest in Him as you serve Him in so many ways! Being 55 is a great time! I remember it well as I near 72. I appreciate the posts of some of us who are a bit farther along in the journey! Love to you, my sister! Pam

  4. Finding a doctor who treats the whole person, that is a rare gift it seems. Since our family doctor retired several years ago, I'm still looking. I don't think they come like him any more. Enjoyed your praises.
